We’ve driven through Moissac so many times on our way to and from the airport, but I’ve never actually stopped to explore, so today Carl jumped on his bike and the rest of us hopped into the car and off we went for an adventure. We explored L’abbaye Saint Pierre, with Romanesque sculptures around the door and lovely painted walls inside. Then we spent some time in the attached cloisters. I’m partial to cloisters and this one was especially pretty and calm, with a big tree in the middle and stonework all around. And thanks to Kate, we actually have some photos of all four of us together enjoying the space! We’d brought along a picnic lunch and found a peaceful spot on the banks of the Tarn to share our meal. Carl headed back home on his bike (making it a 84km day!) and we drove back via Lauzerte, where we had coffees and ice creams in the main square and walked to the lookout point to take in the quintessential view of the French countryside. A great way to start September!
